About St Moritz
St. Moritz is one of the world's best winter sports destinations - it's not just about skiing here - and it was also one of the world's first ever ski resorts. St. Moritz's spectacular azure lake, in which the surrounding alpine peaks and pine forests are reflected, make it an enticing proposition visually, but once you arrive it's the fun atmosphere that will have you reserving your bed in one of the best places to stay in St. Moritz for next year too.
Originally St. Moritz was the preserve of those who could afford to travel for pleasure, royalty, celebrities and magnates etc.... And while it's still a favourite amongst familiar names and faces, and its restaurants and boutiques rival those of any capital, many of the best places to stay in St. Moritz, or just outside, offer good value chic. Though the whole place does look a million dollars, especially shining under its average of 322 days of sunshine per year!
As well as an abundance of runs, from death defying blacks to gentle nursery slopes over 350kms, the fun to be had out on the frozen lake, and St. Moritz's famous Cresta Run - the world's only natural skeleton course - this town also has some sites and sights worth seeing. There's 'the Heidi hut', used in the film of the famous children's story, the Engadiner Museum, which is all about this scenic valley location and and art museum.
St. Moritz is just as beautiful in summer, an alpine wonderland for walkers, mountain bikers and anyone who appreciates a mountain vista.
As you'd expect most of the best places to stay in St Moritz are exceptionally busy during the peak winter months. However you'll need to plan ahead for the summer too - it's a very popular spot.
