|  | | Fiona Duncan |  |  | Fiona began as a junior feature writer on Nova magazine back in theearly 1970s before running away to sea for two years, to theCaribbean, after which published Cooking Afloat in hardback andpaperback under the Macmillan imprint. She then went into publishing,working as an editor on illustrated non-fiction books at MitchellBeazley for ten years. Whilst there she edited a new series of travelguides, the Amex Guides, and when she left to go freelance after hersecond child she began to write them instead. She and her husbandAndrew also launched the Charming Small Hotel Guides, still goingstrong after twenty years, and she became, along with her greatfriend and colleague, Leonie Glass, their principal author. She andLeo have had many adventures across Britain and Europe in pursuit ofdelightful hotels, and now continue to do so for their own Hotel Guruwebsite. Fiona has been writing general travel articles for theSunday Telegraph since 1998, which have taken her across the world,and since May 2006 she has written a weekly column, Hotel Guru,reviewing UK hotels. She has two sons and divides her time betweenLondon and Beaulieu in Hampshire, as well as countless hotels inbetween. When she wakes in the morning, she makes herself rememberwhere she is before she opens her eyes. Sometimes, even after she'sdone so, she can't work it out!
