The fourth Mr Goring is now at the helm of this great London family-run institution, opened in 1910. Though tradition and Englishness is at its heart, The Goring always keeps up with the times (it was the first to install en suite bathrooms) but liveried doormen, long-serving staff, private gardens, English dishes and magnificent breakfasts are all at the core of its charm.

THEY SAY: The Goring was opened in March 1910 by O.R. Goring, the great grandfather of Jeremy Goring the current owner. It is ideally located in Belgravia, adjacent to Buckingham Palace. O.R. Goring was an innovator of great vision - this was the first hotel in the world to have private bathrooms and central heating in every bedroom. The Goring continues to innovate and regenerate, ensuring the perfect hotel for today's guests. Entering one of the Goring's bedrooms is like coming home. Everything is where you need it, everything is just so. The Goring has the luxury of its own private gardens offering the visitor our very own oasis in the city. At the far end of the hotel you are transported into a cathedral of light which is our Dining Room. Newly refurbished by Linley, England's most famous furniture maker, the Dining Room provides the perfect backdrop for the perfect meal. Straight through the front doors and into the Garden Bar. These three interconnecting rooms provide different environments for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and evening suppers. The dark clubby bar leads through to a light, airy terrace and finally into the grand yet comfortable lounge. This year The Veranda was added to the back of the terrace. This open space seats 24 people overlooking the famous Goring Gardens where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.
