| The louche, decadent meeting place of the 60s and 70s is now a haven where today's A-Listers come to escape the Paparazzi, and where gloriously extravagant interiors compliment its fabulous circular atrium. Choose between jewel-box like rooms and themed suites (if you can bear the tristesse you can sleep in the room in which Oscar Wilde expired beyond his means). There's also a divine candlelit plunge pool, perfect for romantic assignations, and Michelin-starred Le Restaurant, one of the city's most popular places to dine. |

THEY SAY: The iconic L’Hôtel has a long and distinguished pedigree, and is one of the most famous hotels in Paris. Originally part of the palace of Queen Margot, the building was made into a Pavillion d’Amour in the early 19th Century. Oscar Wilde took up residence at the end of the century, and lived at L’Hôtel till the end of his life – though at that time, it was called Hôtel Alsace. He was the first of many illustrious guests who stayed here. By the 1960s, L’Hôtel was the place to stay in Paris, with every famous visitor to the city passing through from Salvador Dali and Princess Grace, to Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. L’Hôtel’s heyday has continued unbroken ever since; a major refit at the end of the 1990s by the renowned designer Jacques Garcia marked a new chapter in the hotel’s history, winning many awards….Garcia oversaw a further remodeling in 2006, after L’Hôtel became part of A Curious Group of Hotels, a small privately owned company of hip hotels for those in the know.
