Hotel Académies et des Arts Reviews

| Two artists have deftly created the hotel’s unique look: Jerôme Mesnager, whose joyous white silhouettes are painted directly onto bedroom walls and all the way up the lift shaft, and sculptor Sophie Watrigant, whose equally endearing figures climb a dainty steel ladder from the bottom to the top of the five-storey stairwell. Bedrooms have the classy feel of a top hotel; breakfast is taken in the 'petit bistrot', on a velvet sofa beside shelves of art books, or at cinema style banquettes while watching art videos. There's a spa too, and exemplary service. Highly recommended. |

THEY SAY: The Hotel des Academies et des Arts is dedicated to the creative arts and is the foremost boutique hotel in the Montparnasse district. Firstly, because it chose as its home the very street where Modigliani had his studio. And secondly, because it is just across the road from the famous Academie de la Grande Chaumiere, which has witnessed, over time, the genius of people like Gauguin, Bourdelle, Soulages, Giacometti and even Zao Wou-ki. And finally, because its owners, Charlotte and Laurent Inchauspe, have given the painter Jerome Mesnager carte blanche to draw his famous "white bodies" on the facade of the hotel and in the rooms and public areas. There are also sculptures by Sophie de Watrigant adorning the hotel staircase. Not forgetting the screening of artist's videos, in the hotel's video art room. A hotel which has become a real place of interest.
