| In a plain of sunflower, wheat and cotton fields, this cortijo-style building was once an olive farm and press and is now home to an Anglo-Spanish family. Beyond its brilliant white façade, with ochre paintwork and clumps of bougainvillea, you will find a stunning yet homely interior. There are 11 split-level bedrooms organized around a courtyard and three romantic garden casitas: the last word in rustic chic. Young, attentive staff and first-rate cuisine. |

THEY SAY: Formerly part of a thriving olive estate, the Hacienda has been restored and converted into a privately-owned hideaway, striking a balance between rustic charm and modern sophistication. This eighteenth-century hacienda is half-way between the historic cities of Seville and Jerez. To the East lie the white villages alongside the Sierras of Grazalema and to the West Coto Doñana National Park. The restaurant embraces good simple Mediterranean cuisine. The chef produces an outstanding selection of recipes with an emphasis on local seasonal produce. Whenever possible dining is alfresco. The bougainvillea-filled courtyard acts as centre stage to eleven duplex designed bedrooms. All the rooms are individually decorated by Kuky Mora-Figueroa, using fabrics, antiques and artefacts of her own personal choice. There is a verandah outside each bedroom where breakfast is served. For something a little more special, the Hacienda has three casitas offering the ultimate in rustic chic. The casitas lie in a private garden with a shared infinity pool. Each Casita has a large bedroom, separate living room and an upstairs siesta zone. An outside "chozita" offers guests a comfortable day bed for relaxing or individual dining.
