| Run by the same family for some 200 years, the Ravizza still has the feel of an old-fashioned pensione in spite of (tasteful) modernisation. There are pretty painted ceilings and period furnishings, some of them rather quirky. The Italiante garden at the back is a delight in summer. |

THEY SAY: This Renaissance Palace, which stands in a quiet area of the historical centre of Siena, was transformed into a pensione in the 1920s. Still owned by the same family, it has been recently renovated to offer the modern facilities nowadays required, while maintaining its original character. It is a small charming hotel with lovely rooms, a high quality restaurant and a beautiful garden overlooking the Tuscan hills.
