This remarkable house and estate of Sir Stewart Gore-Brown, located at the heart of Northern Zambia has recently been brought back from the brink of collapse by his great grandson. Today Africa House overlooking Shiwa Ngandu (Lake of the Royal Crocodiles) is a reminder of the grandeur and splendour of a bygone colonial era. The Estate boasts a 10,000 hectare game ranch rich in wildlife. A stay here might also involve meeting the people on the estate, visiting schools and other ongoing projects. Seemingly out of place in such a raw country, 'Africa House' is unique.

To book this hotel:

Three years ago, this remarkable house and estate of Sir Stewart Gore-Browne and his wife Lorna was on the brink on collapse. However, Charlie Harvey (Charlie is great grandson of Sir Stewart Gore Browne who built the house in 1928,) and his wife Jo have taken on the job of renovating this amazing property and have opened it to the public.
Today 'Africa House' has to be one of the most photographed houses in the whole of Africa and Charlie and Jo are now taking in guests in four double rooms with ensuite facilities. All rooms are simple with original hardwood furnishings and paintings and ensuite bathrooms.
