“This is the most northerly outpost in Michael Caines’ chain of affordable city hotels. The original Edwardian building has been tastefully converted to reveal an interesting mix of period charm and contemporary design. Bedrooms follow a hierarchy from Comfortable through to Fabulous and bear classic ABode trademarks: huge beds covered with soft pillows, cashmere throws, bespoke toiletries and impish tuck baskets brimming with goodies. The formal restaurant, with adjoining wine room, has a great value ‘Amazing Grazing’ menu while the basement BarMC mixes seductive cocktails to the beat of the weekend DJ.”
