“Opened in 2008, this luxury complex is part of the Grecotel chain and combines a hotel core with a collection of split-level villas with private pools and a semi-private beach. At its heart, low-rise stone buildings and palms around reflecting pools and fountains, have an Egyptian feel. Great food in five restaurants, including the contemporary Asian Blue Monkey. The Elixir spa pampers with Ayurvedic treatments by Indian therapists. If there’s a down side, it’s the location, on a slightly scruffy stretch of coast between the airport and the downmarket sprawl of Malia and Hersonissos. Great for a luxurious short break.”
