“Luxurious converted farmhouse B&B, twenty minutes from York. With just three bedrooms you'll feel very much at home. The style is traditional - think exposed beams, wooden floors and antique furniture - and very comfortable. A great base for exploring both York and the surrounding area.”

Hotel Overview

“Nestled on a hillside overlooking the Yorkshire Wolds, this luxurious converted farmhouse is filled with antique armoires and oil paintings which have all made the move south from Ethie Castle in Scotland. It’s not all polished mahogany and stag’s heads however; cosy bedrooms and a relaxed kitchen and living area fill the house with character, as does owner Kirstin de Morgan, in whose company it’s easy to spend the whole morning chatting away over an indulgent fry-up.”

“Why do people love staying in your B&B?
People enjoy staying at the barn because of the relaxed family atmosphere, comfortable rooms and proximity to York and other local attractions.

What is there to do in the area?
Apart from York, there is Beverley with its own beautiful Minster and individual shopping. Helmsley is only 30 minutes away. The coast is only 40 minutes away, there is lovely walking in the various East Yorkshire dales and on top of the Wolds. There are various stunning houses open to the public including: Castle Howard, Sledmere House, Duncombe Park, Burton Agnes and Nunnington Hall to name a few. All of these have amazing gardens too.

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
Fresh fruits, yoghurt, cereals, fruit juice, full English breakfast, toast and homemade preserves. Continental breakfast of hams, cheeses and croissant is also available. Early breakfast available for business people wishing to leave promptly.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
There are a variety of good local eateries locally such as The Fleece Inn Bishop Wilton, Pocklington has Judsons Wine Bar, Pano Vino Italian, an Indian and Chinese. We have the Michelin starred Pipe and Glass at South Dalton. York, of course, offers a huge array of different dining experiences.

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
The ground floor double room with bathroom seems to be most booked room. Possibly as it is the first room that pops up on the internet.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ?
No extra beds available.”
