“Do Wimbledon champions make great hoteliers? It doesn't necessarily follow, but in the case of Cromlix, Andy Murray has sensibly called in professional interior designers in the shape of Kathleen Fraser and Ian Smith and a hotel management company ICMI who look after 7 top notch properties in Scotland. This combination coupled with a can do, no expense spared attitude results in an intimate, low key, luxurious, well designed hotel. The striking restaurant and bar are quite a contrast to the country house feel. You are no longer cosseted in deep comfy chairs surrounded by traditional oil paintings but assailed by lightness and brightness with specially designed sofas and chairs in lime green and dark blue. Cocktails will certainly be sharp and the restaurant, under the management of Chez Roux will delight with firm favourites such as twice cooked soufflé.”
