Hotel Review

The Hotel Brunnenhof in St Jacob, a few minutes from St Anton is housed in a 300 year old building so perfectly Tyrolean that an encounter with a goatherd or a man on wooden skis seems imminent at any moment. There is a gently hushed atmosphere in the hotel which has been run for the last 31 years by Karin and Pepi Wolfram. All nine bedrooms are simple and comfortable with traditional carved wooden headboards in most rooms. Duvets are luxuriously thick and the beds furnished with fat pillows perfect for falling into after a long hard day on the slopes. (Do put your drink down first.) Downstairs there is a small bar area, sauna and boot room. Breakfast in cosy wood-panelled comfort before easing into heated boots and heading out to the bus shuttle stop which is right outside. Don’t expect Krazy Kanguruh style high jinks, come for the calm.
