“Overlooking the Stour Valley, this charming 400 year old stone-built inn has an easy-going ambiance and plenty of character. With pretty arched windows and a mix of old furniture, giant polished flagstones and a fire burning in the hearth, it was well known in the ‘50s as a gastronomic destination. Today they serve comforting dishes at sensible prices and locals drink merrily at the bar. The rooms are excellent, individually furnished, and the service is prompt, professional and friendly. After waking to the sound of birdsong, try ‘The Apple Walk’, created by local schoolchildren and based on the old Apple Map in church. If you are lucky, you may bump into the post lady and her 11 whippets.”
