“This 17th Century shooting lodge, which sits amidst the brooding peaks and isolated shoreline of Skye, is the ancestral home of Lord Macdonald and his wife Lady Claire aka the cook and food writer, Claire Macdonald. Staying at this gorgeous hotel is a little like visiting the favourite aunt and uncle you always wish you had; family photos, crackling fires, plates of home-made fudge, candles lit at bedtime and a genuine informality induce feelings of profound contentment. Bedrooms in the new South Lodge are lovely but you might get wet during the short walk to the main house if the weather turns against you. Marcello Tully’s restaurant, based largely on local ingredients, has earned a Michelin star.”

"Devotees of food writer and cook Claire Macdonald (no longer chef here, but she holds cookery courses) will love the Kinloch Lodge; so too will Michelin-star aficionados, who come here to eat the food of Marcello Tully (one of two star holders on Skye)."
