“In a perfect medieval village and enclosed by mature gardens, this tastefully renovated 19th-century bastide is an appealing base for visiting Avignon, Arles and other Provençal highlights. Come back after a hard day's sight-seeing and relax in the rose-filled garden, where the only sounds likely to disturb the peace are the (occasional) church bells and birdsong. There's a small but tempting pool, with plenty of sunning space on the surrounding lawn. The ten bedrooms are refreshingly contemporary, done out in grey and white, with smart all-marble bathrooms. Though the menu is pretty static, the food is highly regarded.”
