“Why do people love staying in your hotel?
A real family providing a delightful, comfortable stay in Spain's Secret Sierra

What is there to do in the area or on site?
Where do we start? Great walks right from the door, fantastic restaurants with the star Iberian Ham and Iberian pork dishes, Rio Tinto Mines, Sevilla, the Atlantic coast, Unesco starlight reserve from 2014, Aracena and the Grutas....We can arrange various activities - horse riding, mounting biking, caving, abseiling, kayaking, canyoning or you can just come for a bit of R&R. Enjoy our slow holiday week, our Iberian Ham School or a completely organised walking holiday where we do everything for you and you just get to enjoy the walking, the food and the area.

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
Breakfast is served buffet style with homemade and local products (homemade patés, homemade jams, organic honey, great selection of EVOO), cereals, fresh fruit, organic wholemeal and local white breads, fresh orange juice in season, fresh tomato and juice in season, a selection of teas and excellent espresso coffee.

Do you offer other meals?
A delicious 3 course set menu based on locally sourced and organic ingredients can be booked by arrangement. If you are planning a day out, you could take along one of our home made picnics and if you have had a large Spanish lunch then we are happy to serve a light cold supper.

And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
You won't go wrong through us! Our village map guides you to all the restaurants in the village along with our personal recommendations. We also tell you our favourite restaurants in the other villages around

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
You will find all our rooms provide the same high standard, detail and comfort, individually decorated with antique and reclaimed furniture. We personally prefer El Cabezuelo room which has art deco furniture and beautiful light. The upper storey rooms (3) look over the garden and pool and are lovely in winter where the sun catches the terraces all day. The 3 lower storey windows have a private terrace which walks straight out onto the public terraces and gardens - fantastic in the summer!

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms?
We have two rooms that form a family suite by means of a sliding door and can fit in an extra bed for children up to the age of 12 in most rooms. We provide cots free of charge. The pool and 3m trampoline entertain children no end.

What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? Get the best of both world's at La Posada de San Marcos where the front door takes you straight out to the hubub of a pretty white Andalusian village where a tapa and a cool glass of sherry awaits you in one of the lively bars in the square and the back door leads you to our oasis of peace and tranquility where our noisy neighbours of frogs, nightingales and the occasional donkey will help you sleep a fine siesta! Here at San Marcos our strong green credentials and emphasis on hospitality go hand in hand, along with life's little luxuries. You'll be amazed at how traditional and unexploited "Spain's Secret Sierra" is. Everyone who arrives by public transport will get a free transfer from Aracena (a 15min drive).”
