“At your first sighting of the Lloyd Hotel, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’ve just stepped into a scene from Fritz Lang’s Metropolis. The industrial age building was once an immigrant hotel and a prison. It has recently been extensively renovated, allowing an interior space that is grand and multifunctional, housing bar, restaurant, library, art installations, catwalk, and meeting rooms , with free wifi throughout. Culture, design and community spirit lies at the heart of the thinking. Bedrooms, individually decorated by interior design students, are wacky and innovative, ranging from one to five stars based on size. The hotel isn’t central but a short tram ride from Central Station.”
