“Perched on the coral bluff of Raskitoka, Pehoni and Behewa houses look over Kilifi creek and out to the Indian ocean. These two stunning Arab/Swahili style houses are fully staffed.
There are four double, en suite bedrooms in each house with exceptional views. Between the houses lies a pristine mango shaped pool set in four hectares of mature tropical gardens, established indigenous trees and fruit orchards.
Private steps lead down to a quiet beach from where one can swim at any tide.”
They say
“The Houses are called Pehoni House (Pehoni meaning "cooled by sea breezes") and Behewa House, meaning "inner courtyard" in old Swahili, the inner courtyard is open to the sky. Both houses are thatched in the local traditional palm "Makuti" and are surrounded by mature trees and tropical gardens. There are 11 pool beds and a giant sunbathing mattress beside the pool, which is kept fastidiously clean by Peter
You approach the houses down a long avenue of flamboyant trees, when the scarlet blossoms are overhead in December it is a wonderful sight. Mdoroni means "the place of sweet water" in Giriama. Giant Baobab trees shade the steps leading down the coral gardened cliff to the sandy beach, there is heavenly swimming at any tide and at low tide one can walk either up the creek to the Mnarani Club or follow the cliff all the way to Takaungu Creek, a few kilometres south of Kilifi. There is a private mooring for a boat just off the beach.”
