Mediterraneo Kastellorizo, Greece

“Colourful, friendly boutique hotel in a less visited corner of The Dodecanese. No pool but sea bathing yards from the hotel, a tranquil, relaxed base.”

Photo of Mediterraneo

“Kastellorizo (also called Megisti) is literally off the map; so far to the south-east of Rhodes that it doesn’t feature on most official charts. But for those who make the journey (by air or ferry from Rhodes), it’s a joy, with multi-coloured houses ringing a deep blue, fjord-like harbour. Mediterraneo is one of these, efficiently run by its Greek-Swiss owners. The rooms are cool and airy, and though there’s no pool there are quayside loungers and a bathing ladder leading to dazzling turquoise water steps from your door.”
