“Deep in the mountain forests of the wild Selino region, Milia is unique and full of character: 13 rooms in traditional houses which have been painstakingly restored using local stone and timber. Rooms are heated (when necessary) by wood-burning stoves, solar power provides electricity. All meals are served in the communal kitchen (where you can make your own snacks, tea and coffee). For those who like to escape from omnipresent TV and the modern world and make their own entertainment, this is self-sufficient heaven.”

“Don’t imagine we’re some group of extremists living off spring onions and wearing potato sacks. Our origins are from the area itself, and we happened to have property around Milia. It was our love of the place that prompted us to set about restoring and protecting the old settlement…. We’re just regular people; we’re even plainer in reality, and our motives are as plain as we are. We’ve just got an appetite for hard work and creating, and, above all, a sound respect for the human being, the environment and our local traditions.”
