“It is a haven. And it overlooks, memorably and spectacularly, a mount: St Michael’s Mount, to be precise, rising majestically from the bay, best enjoyed from the hotel’s sleek terrace. Owners Mike and Orange have created a truly calming place, where Eastern silks, artefacts and furniture combine with modern comforts. Rooms aren’t particularly large, but they are airy and fresh, as is the mirrored, white walled, wooden floored dining room where the food is just right, with the emphasis on local produce (such as Newlyn crab), simplicity and taste. Spoiling, but affordable, with great views.”

“We just fell in love with this place – the views and energy here are so special – so calming and therapeutic. Far away from all the madness of everyday life elsewhere. Nearly everyone notices it when they walk in the door. We’ve spent the last 9 years modifying it to make it as comfortable and aesthetic as possible. We’ve built up a team of staff who follow our philosophy and have a ‘can do’ attitude to guests and go that extra mile to make them feel relaxed and welcome. We have incredible therapists too. I used to be one so I know how to pick them. I truly believe if you book a therapy for when you arrive or the next day, it will chill you down quickly and the benefit of even a short break will be doubled.
We have so many repeat guests that sometimes it feels like a big family. And they love the food! We now have a great crew of about 7 chefs under the direction of James Morris who is very young, enthusiastic and talented. He gets so excited about the produce down here – it’s all so fresh and healthy. This area, West Cornwall, the beauty is indescribable really. The peninsula is so unspoiled and the natural beauty so breath-taking. Even in high summer you can find beaches and coves to yourselves: just ask us where to go. If you need a total break to get away, clear your head and restore yourself, mentally, physically and spiritually – this is it.”
