“The perfect base for those wanting to be in the heart of the West End. Classic on the outside, but wonderfully contemporary on the inside. Spacious rooms and suites, buzzy lobby bar, superb dining in the Axis restaurant and a luxury spa for relaxing after a hard day's sightseeing! ”

Hotel Overview

“Contemporary hotel situated in the centre of London’s theatreland, and the edge of Covent Garden. Originally commissioned as the home of the Morning Post newspaper, the building was designed by Charles Mewes and Arthur Davis (the duo behind both the paris and London Ritzes) and is reputedly their finest work! It features huge high ceilings and enormous windows, which give the place an air of space and light. Completely overhauled several years ago the building’s classic exterior belies the contemporary space that now exists within. You enter into the trendy Lobby Bar (a very popular venue for residents and non residents alike) which is filled with enormous art installations and the vibe is coolly relaxed. The theme continues as you jump into the lift to take you to your room (mood lighting ensures a continually changing feel) and on into the rooms themselves, where more original artworks complement the muted colour scheme (think browns, greys and greens). Food is another highlight of this luxury property. Venture down to the bowels of the building and you’ll discover the delights of the Axis Restaurant (with another surprisingly high ceiling, given the subterranean location). The food is delicious: modern British and executed with great aplomb. Go for the tasting menu and you’ll be in for a treat. You also can’t come here without a visit to the pool – it’s a chlorine free, 18 metre, mood lit affair with underwater music to ensure that those lengths float by effortlessly. The perfect luxury pad for those wanting to be in the heart of London’s West End.”
