“Venetian flair outside; modern comforts within. Beyond the façade of one of Rethymnon’s historic buildings, owner Yiannis Apostolakis has created 12 studios (sleeping three people at a pinch) and 11 suites (sleeping four in two rooms). Despite tiled floors and pine ceilings, the rooms feel bright and modern, with king-size beds, wide-screen TVs and air conditioning, and the bathrooms have proper tubs. Great for a few nights, perhaps not for a longer stay, though there is a bijou pool in the stone-paved courtyard.”
