Hotel Overview

“The Red Lion Inn is part of a growing trend of affordable pubs with rooms, offering a classy product and high levels of service. It is ideal for a quick country escape and is well located just five minutes from the A303, making it the perfect stop over, if you're heading further South West. The six en suite bedrooms have been tastefully decorated with muted grey hues and all boast super comfy Hypnos beds, crisp Egyptian cotton sheets, White Company toiletries and free wifi. Another nice touch is promoting the art of their friend Jackie Rennie, with paintings throughout the property - indeed if you like one enough, you can make the purchase and take it home. The food is not to be sniffed at either. Most of the ingredients are sourced as locally as possible, and the daily changing menu has garnered many accolades.”

We have our own restaurant, bar area, gardens and Pizza Den ( open in the summer months only ) We source our ingredients from local suppliers wherever possible. Our bread is made by Lievito Bakery in Lovington, using organic Shipton Mill flour. Our fish comes from British waters, sourced by Kingfisher, Brixham. They operate on a 24-hour port to plate policy to ensure all produce is as fresh as can be. Dairy at The Red Lion is supplied by Longman’s Cheese, a family company based in North Cadbury, using Wyke butter and Blackmore Vale free range eggs. We make sure all of our cheese is produced in the South West. Our meat comes from Andrew Barclay Family Butchers of Wincanton from local farms.

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
The two family / suites on the first floor, for that little bit of extra space, or with a sofa bed for families

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ?
Our two upstairs bedrooms have sofa beds for children, and every room is large enough to have a travel cot. We do not offer a children's menu as such, but offer a smaller child's portion from our menu. DVD's, and out door play area within our gardens.
