“This traditional riad, built between the 17th and 18th centuries, may not have air conditioning, but it’s got birdsong, orange trees, a pretty plunge pool and candlelit alcoves, as well as electric fans in the bedrooms to keep you cool at night. The building is bright white, a calming contrast to the mad colours of the Medina and the bedrooms are modestly stylish with simple bathrooms, excellent showers and superb quality towels. It’s a tranquil and relaxed place, with its original features intact, which feels more like an elegant private house than a boutique hotel. Food and service are both top-notch. A favourite of Mick Jagger’s”
