The Crown and Garter Berkshire (Inkpen Common Road)

“Charming country inn in superb walking and cycling country. Ten individually designed rooms offer stylish contemporary interiors and the restaurant provides honest, seasonal, English cuisine. Plus an onsite bakery and coffee shop. The perfect bolthole for a country escape.”

Photo of The Crown and Garter

“The Crown & Garter sits at Inkpen Common in a beautiful stretch of countryside on the Berkshire/Hampshire border with the Inkpen and Walbury Hills rising up behind the property. It has recently been refurbished and offers ten bedrooms which are situated in a building set apart from the pub (so there's no unwelcome noise if you fancy an early night) in an attractive courtyard with private garden. All rooms are individually designed and you can expect luxuries including superking Hypnos beds, ensuites with excellent showers (huge overhead and side showers) and thoughtful touches like a Guest Directory with local walking maps and a torch. The décor is contemporary and lighting is discreet. Dinner comes highly recommended (the company also runs a cookery school in the vicinity) with the focus on honest, delicious food which changes with the seasons. There's also a very popular onsite bakery and coffee shop for those who want a light bite during the day. The Crown & Garter is an ideal bolt hole, little over an hour from London, for those seeking peace and quiet, coupled with good cuisine, in gorgeous walking and cycling countryside.”
