“The Dunstane is a great find in a superb location - it's perfect for access to Edinburgh's sights, Murrayfield and the airport. The property comprises two Victorian townhouses (across the road from each other) which have been converted to provide a selection of luxury accommodation from single rooms to four poster suites. Decor is classic in style, but the emphasis is on glamour, with much use of statement wallpapers, sumptuous velvets and deep colours. Family rooms are a bonus too, and there's been no scrimping on style here either - just additional sofa beds and space for accommodating smaller family members. Bathrooms are smart and modern with little luxuries like Molton Brown smellies. Skerries restaurant is Scottish fine dining with an Orcadian twist and the bar is a haven for anyone who likes their whisky or wants to check out a new Scottish gin. The Dunstane is a great choice for anyone wanting easy access to all of Edinburgh's best bits, a stylish stay but without the heavy price tag.”

“Why do people love staying in your hotel?
The Dunstane is such a unique property in Edinburgh, situated over two Victorian mansion houses giving our guests the flexibility of room style, size and price. We cater for all types of people with our fabulous luxury four poster suites for a special romantic weekend away right down to our Petite Single rooms which are perfect for solo travellers on a budget.
What is there to do in the area?
The Dunstane is situated just a 5 minute walk from Murrayfield Stadium and the EICC so perfect for business and for International Rugby and concerts! We are a 15 minute walk from the City Centre so Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, George Street and all major attractions are just a short walk or short bus ride away. Edinburgh Zoo is 10 minutes away. Great location, quiet surroundings.
What kind of breakfast do you offer?
The Dunstane breakfast is an event in itself. We have a huge continental buffet selection, showcasing the finest of Scottish produce from fresh Scottish natural yoghurt to Scottish cheeses, home made fruit compotes and freshly baked pastries. To follow we have a selection of hot dishes including Orkney Smoked Salmon and scrambled egg, Loch Fyne Kippers and the full Scottish Breakfast with local produce that will keep you going all day!
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
The Skerries restaurant continues where breakfast leads - we use only the best Scottish produce, concentrating particularly on the local area and the Orkney isles where the owners of the hotel are from. We change our menu regularly and the chef is only too pleased to discuss individual requirements and likes. We make the most of dishes such as Orkney Salmon Fillet, East Lothian chicken, Orkney Rib Eye steak and Seafood chowder. There's something for everyone and it is one of Edinburgh's restaurants that is not to be missed.
Which are your most popular room types, and why
Our Luxury rooms are the most popular with our leisure guests as they do offer that extra special experience, with luxury bathrobes, Nespresso coffee machines, Tunnocks tea cakes and Molton Brown luxury toiletries. However, our deluxe rooms do offer plenty of space and goodies of their own! The business traveller needs nothing more than one of our Petite doubles, plenty of space for one and space to work and relax when away on business.
What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ?
Our deluxe rooms have fold away beds for children and we have travel cots available on request. Children can be accommodated in deluxe and luxury rooms with advance notice for the hotel.
What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers?
