The Dutch House Galle, Sri Lanka

“A peaceful 18th century mansion overlooking Galle. Elegant interiors decorated in rich ochres, antiques, and contemporary art with lovely gardens to unwind in. The adjoining hotel has the best restaurant in Galle. A tranquil and romantic base to explore Galle and its surrounding areas.”

Photo of The Dutch House

“This architecturally satisfying stucco house was built in 1712 for a Dutch naval officer and became a hotel at the turn of the century. It has shady verandahs and a tropical garden with an English feel to it – enhanced by a croquet lawn. The rooms are furnished with an array of interesting antiques as well as contemporary art: the Dutch House has been voted a top twenty hip hotel. The elegant L-shaped pool is not large, but soothingly shady, surrounded by dense trees and vegetation. ”
