“In the heart of pretty Sussex countryside, this rural inn sits on the Cowdray Estate midway between Midhurst and Petworth and makes for a good base for walkers and those wanting to explore the surrounding area - Chichester, Arundel, Winchester etc. The pub has a warm, welcoming feel with wooden floors, a log fire, some low beams and exposed brick walls. The restaurant, half-panelled in smart muted shades, with wooden tables and leather chairs offers delicious well presented bistro-style food and generous portions served by friendly staff. Spacious bedrooms are housed in a converted stable block tucked away up a quiet lane a few paces from the main building. Each room has its own entry and is simply and comfortably furnished with carpeted floors, bateau lit beds, armchairs or sofas and clean, user-friendly bathrooms.”
