The Imperial Delhi, India

“Iconic Delhi hotel harking back to the days of Nehru and Gandhi. Sensitively updated for modern age comforts in synergy with its colonial and Art Deco foundations. Marble floors, teak furniture, and white-washed elegance. Fantastic restaurant and spa too. ”

Photo of The Imperial

“Opened in the 1930s and a place where British and Indian dignitaries – Mountbattan, Nehru, Gandhi, Jinnah – could rub shoulders, this legendary hotel, heralded by an avenue of stately palms leading to its entrance, blends modern comforts with vintage character (marble floors, teak and rosewood furniture, high ceilings) and includes amongst its many blessings a collection of over 4,000 artworks and artifacts, including a highly important collection of the works of Raj-era artists Thomas and William Daniell (the curator will take you for a tour)as a tribute to whom they have a Pan - Indian restaurant called “Daniell’s Tavern” at exactly the same place from where they had drawn the original Jantar Mantar. Fine restaurants, shops and superb service, plus colonnaded veranda overlooking manicured lawns, palms and pool.”
