The Linen Shed Kent (Boughton-under-Blean)

“A pretty vintage-laden B&B, a cross between New England style and French chic, in a glorious corner of Kent. Comfortable rooms, charming garden, very relaxed.”

“An army drill hall, a social club, a cinema – perhaps not the usual components for a comfy night’s stay, but all these previous lives make up the fascinating history behind Vickie Miles’ topsy-turvy, vintage-laden B&B. Tucked away in the compact village of Boughton-under-Blean near Faversham stands a grand weatherboard house that would sit comfortably in New England, while the interior has a sense of French grace, with its lavender, soft grey notes, crisp white linen and unpretentiously mismatched bone china. The guestbook exudes proclamations of delirious happiness, clearly after one of Vickie’s cooked breakfasts, and I can see why. Her potato Rosti is a must, put together effortlessly with thick, delicious cuts of smoky bacon, sausages from the local farm, tomatoes fresh from the vine, Serrano ham … the list is endless and so are Vickie’s efforts – her cheery personality, and her two idiosyncratic cats, Mr Wilfred and Cecil, make for a very welcoming stay.”
