“Providing excellent service and understated luxury in the Cotswolds since before it was cool, The Swan Hotel outdates the Chipping Norton set by a century or three. Understanding the needs of today's traveller, interiors are a seamless blend of classic country living and contemporary flair. Oak panelling, plush carpets and beautiful fabrics dress the eclectic rooms whose artwork and antiques create a homely feel. Every day feels like a Sunday here with spa baths and Molten Brown toiletries. Choose a front facing room for views across the River Coln and if bringing the whole family (with so many activities close by, why not?) opt for the two bedroom Family Suite providing spacious living accommodation. You can even bring the dog! Or for the romantics, enjoy a candlelit dinner at their fine restaurant, serving Modern British cuisine. ”
“Why do people love staying in your hotel?
The Swan Hotel strives to provide guests with a welcoming, relaxing stay. With a beautiful setting, comfortable & luxurious bedrooms, friendly staff, and delicious food guests can expect a very enjoyable stay at the Swan Hotel.
What is there to do in the area?
Nestled in the eastern hills of the Cotswolds, Bibury first earned its title of "the most beautiful village in England" from the artist and craftsman William Morris (1834-96) and it's not hard to see why as you approach the village on the river Coln, it exudes natural Cotswolds charm.
On one side of the river you will find Arlington, reached on foot by crossing a beautiful old stone bridge. Famous for its 17th century stone cottages known as Arlington Row, perfect for a romantic stroll in the Cotswolds.
In Bibury itself its recommended that you visit Bibury Trout farm. Bibury Trout Farm is one of Britain’s oldest, and certainly most attractive, Trout Farms.
Founded in 1902, by the famous naturalist Arthur Severn, to stock the local rivers and streams with the native Brown Trout it now covers 15 acres in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Cotswolds, the Coln Valley. The crystal clear waters of the Bibury Spring provide the essential pure water required to run the hatchery which spawns up to 6 million trout every year.
For the more adventurous, or the budding fisherman, their Catch Your Own’ Fishery is an ideal opportunity to catch your supper or get hooked on a new hobby.
There are lots of beautiful villages very close to Bibury which are definitely worth exploring. Burford and the historic town of Cirencester are both just a 15 minute drive away. Bourton-on-the-Water and Upper & Lower Slaughter are just slightly further away but without doubt worth visiting during your time in the Cotswolds.
What kind of breakfast do you offer?
At the Swan we offer a Full English Breakfast with locally sourced produce to start the day. We have a wide range continental buffet options which guests can help themselves to whilst their coffee & toast are prepared. An order would then be taken for a freshly cooked breakfast ranging from Eggs Benedict, Bibury trout with scrambled egg or a Full English Breakfast.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?

During your stay at the Swan it’s definitely worth taking your children for a trip to Bibury trout farm to feed the trout and to play in their play area. Cotswold wildlife park provides the perfect family day out and is just a 20 minute drive from the Swan.”
Bibury is the archetypal Cotswolds village. Honey-hued terraced cottages, hilly green scenery and a tranquil riverside location all sound too perfect to be true yet this is Bibury, home to The Swan Hotel, a 17th-century coaching inn.
