“With this unusual new hotel, the young designer Andre Fu has succeeded admirably in re-interpreting the concept of luxury and creating a haven of serene good taste. You enter, on Pacific Place, through a wall that resembles a curtain being drawn, and ascend via escalator through a ‘tunnel’ of wood and slatted light. The feeling is one of almost Zen-like calm – except in the buzzing restaurant and bar – enhanced by shapely artworks and pale wood. The bedrooms feel airy; the exceptional bathrooms, enormous, each with a dressing area and astonishingly smooth sandstone ‘cocoon’ sculptures. Touch and feel are everything here. ”
