“Classic, traditional inn with beautifully designed rooms in a tiny rural hamlet. Seven elegant, rustic-chic rooms with exposed stone and brick walls. Great food with daily specials and outdoor wood-fired oven for casual pizzas. A real family friendly country find. ”

Hotel Overview

“The Woolpack is the fulcrum of one of England’s tiniest hamlets, in the picturesque Candover valley, and is surrounded by farmland. The seven comfortable bedrooms are in a separate building alongside the Inn and the style is rustic/country pursuit-chic exuding an elegant charm. Each room (which is named after a game bird) has a gun cabinet, Bramley toiletries and some feature exposed stone and brickwork and super fluffy bed covers. Dogs are allowed in all rooms at no extra charge. Downstairs is the Dining Room, which overlooks a courtyard where more can be accommodated al fresco. The emphasis is on locally sourced game and fish and there are always ‘daily specials’. There is an in-house cake shop and also a private dining room for up to 12 people, which has a humidor and outside smoking terrace, where shooters and fishers can regale each other with tales of ‘the one that got away’. Other attractions include a (pink clothed) pool table, a selection of real ales, an outdoor childrens’ playground and acres of parking. Families could not want for more on a Summer’s evening. This country inn is well worth the detour.”
