“A luxury resort set on the beautiful golden sand-fringed island of Koh Russey. Immaculately styled rooms are minimalist with large glass sliding doors leading onto private patios. A choice of two restaurants offer both Khmer and European dishes. The spa is utterly spoiling. The perfect beach escape.”

Hotel Review

After you have probably experienced driving through the more down at heel building site vibes of Ream beach and Sihanoukville (popular mostly with Chinese gamblers), Koh Russey Resort's welcome building is a lovely breath of air-conditioned air. The journey from Sihanoukville airport takes approximately 15 minutes by car, and the boat journey is another fun filled 15 mins from the jetty. Sit at the front to get the best view of the harbour and islands. The island setting is spectacular; the hotel itself has a Bond villain HQ vibe, it has a very modern bunker-like outward aesthetic that is by turns uncompromising and yet also subtle, due to the greenery encompassing its buildings. The pool has been designed to resemble the iconic "krama" scarf worn by both Khmers and western tourists — sharp edged and sleek black. An excellent place to watch the sun go down with a beer. Accommodation comes in a choice of villas, which come with private pool and garden, and pavilions, which don't. Inside each is spacious, comfy and airy. Hues of white and grey with accents of wood work well together and bring a sense of calm. Some rooms come with outdoor bathtubs and all feature excellent rainfall showers. As to the dining options, lunch is to be had at the beach bar — a very relaxed affair with fabulous local dishes to be sampled — dinner is in the Horizon restaurant, a great room but a large, slightly confused menu. For those in need of more calm, head to the excellent spa. All in all, Koh Russey Resort is the perfect option for anyone wanting to add some beach luxury to their Cambodian adventure. It's the place to book for a spot of beachfront relaxation either pre- or post temple bashing!
