Hotel Review

The idea of staying at a golf resort when never actually having lifted a club may seem faintly ridiculous: even more so when you accidentally book to stay while the New Zealand Open is taking place. However, Millbrook has worked that out with a selection of beautifully presented cottages and suites tucked away from the tap of club and ball, but with the same fabulous view of the surrounding hills as from the fairway.
The accommodation is about ten minutes walk from reception through beautifully landscaped gardens - note particularly the water features- but you can get one of the charming young staff to whisk you there in a golf buggy (what else?) if you prefer.
Each room has a generous living area and terrace, huge bed with very high quality linen and towels and very decently powered showers, all vital ingredients in translating convenience into comfort.
The resort boasts three fine restaurants and an indoor pool and a spa and is only three km or so from the charming town of Arrowtown which, although still touristy, is considerably less busy than Queenstown which is about 15 minutes away. It also offers all the usual daredevil activities associated with this area of New Zealand - bungee jumping, jet boating, parasailing etc. as well as offering good shopping and eating opportunities for the more sedentary.
Ideal for skiers (in winter), independent travelers looking for a comfortable base from which to explore the Queenstown area and, of course, golfers.
