“A monastery renovated with romance and elegance. Its celestial views from its perch on a cliff top are to die for. The hotel captures the essence of la dolce vita with its location, understated but immaculate style, and its incredible spa facilities. A romantic destination.”

Hotel Review

The Monastero Santa Rosa must have the finest views of the Mediterranean and Amalfi coast of any hotel. It’s also a haven of peace and discretion. The converted monastery is massive and yet, only houses 20 of the most exclusive bedrooms, converted from the nun’s cells. Don’t worry they are spacious and exquisitely understated, nothing less than you would expect following an 11 year painstaking renovation project. The bedrooms are immaculate but so is the rest of the hotel from the infinity pool where simple but delicious poolside lunches are served to the gourmet restaurant and terrace bar. To help you relax even more, the Monastero has a superb Spa with tepidarium, Turkish bath and whirlpool bath and massages and beauty treatments using the exclusive Santa Maria Novella lotions and potions. The service standards, as you would expect from having an American owner are impeccable and have raised the bar on the Amalfi coast where there are no shortage of top of the range establishments.

Because the spa at Monastero Santa Rosa defines an oasis of spirituality and tranquility unlike any other spa in the world. Harmoniously blending the modern amenities of a decadent spa within the original rustic walls of a 17th-century monastery.

Which are your most popular room types, and why? The Sea View Premium Terrace Suite (Citrus) has historic ties to the Kennedy family. In the 1960s, when the monastery had become the well-known Albergo Monastero di Santa Rosa, one of the “39 castles of Italy,” Jacqueline Kennedy used to lunch here on freshly caught local fish when this suite’s space housed the property’s original dining area. Now, its enormous terrace hangs over the center of the property, suspended over the Amalfi Coast with breathtaking coastal and sea views. Complete with alfresco dining table, lounges, lemon trees, and a retractable canopy when the Amalfi sun blazes too strong, it is an ideal locale for a small private reception or dinner party.
