About Harwich

Nestled between Chatham and Yarmouth, overlooking picturesque Nantucket Sound, pretty Harwich is a lovely base for a Cape Cod holiday. Whether you’re dreaming of family days at the beach, wine tastings with friends or romantic evenings under the stars, Harwich has it all. Accommodation options range from simple historic inns to chic private cottages, fit for a whole host of tastes and budgets. The best places to stay in Harwich have an appealingly laid-back feel, perfect for relaxing in this idyllic corner of Massachusetts.

Harwich’s Wychmere Harbour is a sailing enthusiast’s dream — and it’s one of the most photographed coves on the Cape. Those eager to get out on the water will find opportunities to sail, kayak, swim and fish in the area. For lazy days on the sand, Red River Beach, Belmont Road Beach and Bank Street Beach are our top spots. Stroll along with your feet in the waves, build sandcastles or enjoy ice cream in the sunshine. There are myriad hiking and cycling trails in the vicinity, as well as some fantastic golf courses.

Back in town, you’ll find trendy art galleries, antique shops and boutiques, as well as delectable seafood eateries. Tours and tastings at First Crush Winery Cape Cod are a real treat, whilst Cape Cod Lavender Farm will delight keen gardeners. Venture to Yarmouth to amble along the historic Captain’s Mile, or towards Chatham for the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center and the Chatham Shark Center.

Friendly and tranquil, the best places to stay in Harwich promise a wonderfully restorative Cape Cod escape to remember!
