“The perfect choice for a budget stay in the historic heart of Arequipa. A wide choice of rooms (including shared dormitories) will suit all travellers. Interiors are simple but cheerful and spotlessly clean. But the piece de resistance is the fab roof terrace and superb city views.”

Hotel Review

For those on a budget, or even those who crave a lively place to stay where they'll meet a wide range of like-minded travellers, Le Foyer Hostel is the place to book. It's a simple but charming option right in the historic centre of Arequipa. There's a wide range of accommodation on offer from shared dorms to cosy doubles with en suite showers and private balconies to family rooms for up to four. All are cheerfully but simply decked out with white washed walls, wooden floors and basic wooden furnishings. There's round the clock staff at the reception to help with any queries or give advice, plus there's a safe box there for any valuables. But the icing on the cake here is the roof terrace, where a generous American style breakfast is served every morning and where you'll find the bar - perfect for watching the sun go down with a glass of something cold after a hard day's exploring.

See What They Say

Why do your guests love staying with you? Our guests enjoy the walk-able location, being located in the middle of city and the less than one block to the best restaurants and where the action is. They also like our service and staff because we really go out of the way to sort anything they might need. They have commented on our tours to the Colca Canyon as well. But the most important one is our terrace, we developed it after some time and put the breakfast area there, we try to have the best breakfast possible to keep up with the great views of the volcano and the city. What is there to do in the area? Within 3 blocks radius there are the main attractions like the Monastery of Santa Catalina, the Cathedral and the "Museos Andinos" where the "Momia Juanita is". Also the hostel is located in a vibrant area where the best restaurants of the city are located for all the foodies. And we organise tours to the Colca Canyon, 2 or 3 days trekking to the bottom of the canyon or full day tour to main view points to see the flight of the condors and enjoy the hot springs. We also have a travel desk with different tours to do in the city ranging from white water rafting in the chilli river to visiting the quarries from where the "Sillar" (ashlar) came out to be used as the typical stone to build the colonial houses in the city. We also have tours to the outskirts of the city and to the "Reserva Nacional de Salinas y Aguada Blanca" and we can organise private tours to other destinations in Arequipa region. What kind of breakfast do you offer? Our breakfast is not buffet. It includes natural fresh fruit juices, fruit salad, traditional Arequipean bread, homemade jam, butter, pancakes, eggs and cereals in different styles for different days and a selection of teas including coca leaf tea or coffee and milk. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We do not offer other meals during the day, but we share the the building with very well regarded restaurants featuring mexican food, european, peruvian and traditional arequipean. Which are your most popular room types, and why? The most popular rooms are the double bed, with and without balcony. The hostel has this romantic feel to it which makes it great for couples who want to spend time together and with other travellers or friends looking for a chill place where to relax and meet other people. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? We allow children in the hostel with their parents, but they would have to use the beds available. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? I'd like to tell the readers that we are an independent business with great focus and attention to quality, our location is great to be involved in the live of the city and we strive to provide great service, great breakfast, fantastic tours and the best value for Arequipa.
