“Traditional guesthouse with just two rooms and two suites. All rooms have private bathrooms, exposed stonework, soft hues, crisp white linen and the best have balconies. Indulgent breakfasts are served plus there's a small atmospheric bar for an evening tipple & a sun terrace for enjoying the view.”

Hotel Review

Standing in the shadow of rugged mountain wastes and a twelve minute walk from the glittering blue Aegean sea, it is hard not to view the Vetilios Lithos as being moored firmly in tradition. Her nearest village, Oitylo, gained a mention in Homer's Iliad as being part of the kingdom of Menelaus, the embittered husband of Helen of Troy, and in keeping with her mythic past she is decked with a sandy, ashen-white stone exterior, arched doorways and an on-site chapel, near-imitating an archaic castle. However, don't be deceived by this resplendent grandeur: the rooms, though not large by any means, are cosy and coloured with warm, earthy tones, fitted with Coco-Mat mattresses and pillows and private bathrooms. There is A/C in every room, along with flatscreen TVs and wifi. Some rooms have a private terrace and there is a daily cleaning service. The buffet breakfast comes included and there is an in-house bar along with a sun terrace and garden to gently soak up the summer sun with a commanding view of the bay. Oitylo, the local village, sits along a beach where you can try your hand at snorkelling or taste the fresh locally-sourced fish or you can sample her historic past and venture out towards Kelefa Castle, a ruined Ottoman fort or brave the intestinal darkness of the Diros Caves, only 4km away.
