Hotel Review

Tucked down a quiet backstreet within strolling distance of the city centre, this superbly comfortable, well-laid out B&B was once a garage and dance hall. Aiming for “hotel standards with B&B ethos” owner Hannah McIntyre has created a chic oasis. A lofty communal room, well lit by oversized windows and pendant lights has a grand piano at one end and rustic wooden tables. An archway leads into a cosy sitting area lined with books and squashy sofas positioned round a fireplace. In summer doors open onto a pretty courtyard patio. Upstairs three spacious suites have reclaimed wooden floorboards, generous beds with beautiful linen (supplied by Hannah’s mother’s shop, Jane McIntyre) and mezzanine level bath tubs. Copper pipes twisted into funky towel rails and moulded to form unusual showers and taps add flair to bathrooms.
