“This cosy, sweet scented cocoon on a quiet street in Edinburgh's West End is not just for romantic couples. Just as well suited to couples as it is to families, Chester Residence even has a resident family of soft toys to please its youngest guests.”

Hotel Overview

“The first thing that strikes you as you enter the hall of this charming townhouse is a waft of perfume from flickering beeswax candles. The second is the undeniably classy colour scheme, with soft furnishings and carpet in grey, cream and olive stripes setting off charcoal grey woodwork. Similar colours grace the suites, embellished by deep purple and burgundy velvet throws and cushions. Bedding is high-thread-count Egyptian cotton, and you'll find free-standing baths, walk-in showers and Molton Brown toiletries in bathrooms.
Apartment lounges have wide-screen TV and luxury leather sofas and armchairs, and shelves stocked with Ian Rankin's Edinburgh crime novels and J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books are a nice touch. Gleaming, open plan kitchens have all the kit you could ask for, including Nespresso machines. Kitchens can be stocked on request with goodies from Edinburgh Artisan Foods. At garden level, a family-friendly apartment with two en-suite bedrooms plus open-plan lounge kitchen opens directly onto its own section of private garden. There's avery personal service offered, including 24-hour in-room bar service, concierge and porterage.”

“Why do people love staying in your hotel?
Our guests love our chic townhouse apartments providing all the benefits of serviced apartments in the West End of Edinburgh, combined with the personalised service and luxurious glamour of a five-star hotel.

What is there to do in the area?
No visit to Edinburgh is complete without a visit to the iconic Edinburgh Castle and a stroll down the historic Royal Mile. We love the beautiful Botanic Gardens and a trip to Stockbridge's Outdoor Food Market. For rainy days we are fortunate to have the wonderful National Museum and various art galleries. The Modern Art Gallery is a short picturesque walk away from The Chester Residence. Our younger guests love going to visit all the Harry Potter sights located all around the city!

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
We offer our guests a delectable continental breakfast which can be delivered and enjoyed in their luxury apartment.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
Each apartment has a luxury kitchen so guests can whip up their own delicious feasts. We offer a Culinary Creations Package which allows guests to select their very own dinner for two made with tasty local ingredients. We are spoilt for choice for fabulous restaurants in the local area. There are far too many excellent eateries to list and we tailor our recommendation to fit each guest's individual requirements. Some of our favourites are Kitchin, Castle Terrace, Kyloe, Scran and Scallie, The Outsider and Angels with Bagpipes.

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
We offer one and two bedroom apartments. It is hard to choose but all of our teams have their favourites! I love the Penthouse apartments with beautiful views over the city. On a clear day you can see the castle out of one window and Fife out of the other. Plus they have massive bath tubs to soak in with a glass of bubbles.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ?
We pride ourselves on offering family friendly luxury. Families love that our Mew's apartments have two big bedrooms, three bathrooms, open plan living area and their own private garden. We can provide cots and high chairs for babies. For older kids, we have the Harry Potter book series, board games and a selection of family friendly DVDs. Children can choose from their own breakfast menu. Our team are happy to provide recommendations for family friendly attractions and restaurants around the city.

Many of our rooms are able to accommodate an extra bed and can be twinned on request.

What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers?
Edinburgh is a magical city and we are so thrilled to be able to share it with visitors from all over the World. We offer our guests a fabulous and luxurious home away from home. An oasis in the heart of the city.”
