Hotel Review

Like most other aspects of this city, life at the Hotel Khamvongsa moves at a remarkably slow pace while managing to remain utterly charming in the process. Rooms are plain but large, most of the space taken up by giant twin poster beds, with views across to the Inpeng Temple or down onto the old-school colonial courtyard - think black and white tiled floors, dark wooden furniture and slowly whirring fans. Sandwiched between the capital's two main roads, the hotel's excellent location means guests are no more than a five minute walk from the main action, and despite being on a busy street corner it is dead quiet in the evenings. Breakfast served in the courtyard includes an appealing choice of croissants, rice consommé, or Swedish waffles. There is also a small roadside terrace where guests can enjoy drinks and cocktails while watching the evening hustle and bustle.
