Hotel Palumbo

Housed in rambling, 12th-century Palazzo Confalone, the Palumbo is the most characterful of all the five-star hotels in Ravello and is one of the very few that stays open all year. What it lacks in terms of modern luxuries, it makes up for in genuine charm and its many fans happily overlook the cracks.

GUIDE TO AMALFI COAST

Marble columns, antiques and hundreds of candles give Hotel Palumbo a refined, Grand Tour atmosphere, and its verdant terraced gardens are a delight. It also stays open all year round - a rarity in Ravello. There is no swimming pool, however, and guests are required to take half-board from April to October - a real bind in an area that has some worthwhile restaurants to eat in.
