“A delightful Bohemian and old fashioned riyad just outside the centre of the Medina. The tallest rooftop garden in the medina makes up for simple rooms that are wonderfully inexpensive. Fantastic views over the city and a beautiful swimming pool. ”

Hotel Overview

“Like something from a novel by E.M. Forster, a bohemian, old fashioned, atmospheric delight, dripping with bougainvillea, Riyad Edward is owned by Stephen Skinner, who also built the equally alluring Kasbah Ourika in the Ourika valley outside the city. Riyad Edward is wonderfully inexpensive because its rooms are very simple; however, in terms of character and charm it rivals, if not beats, every other riad in town. Slightly away from the centre, it has one of the tallest rooftop gardens in the medina, from where you can look across the city and down into the raid's central courtyard, with its enticing pool and many flowers. Beautifully run by Béatrice, who will look after you well.”

“Why do people love staying in your hotel?
Riyad Edward is a unique property with a large courtyard and original tiles and doors. It is in the heart of the Medina but with easy access to the new town of Marrakech. The riyad is an oasis in the centre of a bustling town and Beatriz who runs the Riyad has a staff who are friendly and want you to make the most of your holiday.

What is there to do in the area?
The main focus of the Medina is to visit the Souqs, absorb the bustling atmosphere of the Marrakech streets and the famous Djema el Fna square. There are various museums and gardens (Menara, Majorelle) to visit during the day and also other shopping opportunities in the New Town of Marrakech. The Riyad can organise excursions for the day to the Ourika Valley (where our sister hotel Kasbah Bab Ourika is located) and other trips around the red city.

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
Full breakfast (tea, coffee, orange juice, fruit salad, bread and choice of eggs)

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
We offer lunch and breakfast on reservation and Beatriz can help by giving recommendations of Marrakech restaurants.

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
Our most popular room types are Suites which are spacious and 1st floor and 2nd floor rooms.

What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers?
Riyad Edward offers you tradition and close access to the souqs of Marrakech. It also provides a calm and peaceful oasis in the bustle of Marrakech. Beatriz and her staff are committed to providing you with a truly Marrakech experience.”
