Hotel Review

One of the oldest inns in England, it has certainly "earned that extra 'e'" as an inn in keeping with tradition but whose "modern interventions" were "perfectly judged" in order to maintain that "traveller's-rest cosiness". The restaurant deserving of its AA 2 Rosette Award with a "seasonally inspired, gastropubby menu" that complements "unpretentious, modern English country cooking". Perhaps something to do with the locally produced Marlow ale being served, or the chef who grows his own greens in the gardens. For the active, an onsite tennis court awaits, or walks along the Thames in nearby Henley, or why not join the "Barbour and Burberry" crowd at the Royal Henley Regatta that occurs yearly. Lovely, but perhaps not for those who prefer a more cosmopolitan setting.
