Verdun is in a beautifully part of France's Lorraine region, but many visitors come because of the town’s bloody history: the hill the town stands upon is built over the dead bodies of thousands of men who died in the longest and most notorious battles of WW1. If you’re here to see the memorials and shell-studded battlefields then the best places to stay in Verdun might be in the town itself, but if you want to see a bit more of Normandy then the best places to stay in Verdun will be a bit further outside town, possibly with nice, sunny views of the River Meuse.
Gloriously traditional and historic château hotel. Rooms are classic in style some with four poster beds. Come to try out fly-fishing on the Meuse or take a trip to the WWI memorials at Verdun and beyond. Have a quick game of tennis, and a relax in the spa before heading to the gourmet restaurant.
