Taormina is one of the most beautiful and romantic of Sicilian towns, perched on a clifftop overlooking the Mediterranean and Mount Etna. It has been a popular place to visit for hundreds of years — tourists come to admire the amphitheatre and the wonderful architecture, from the old palazzos, mansions, and townhouses, to the medieval streets lined with bars, lively bistros and fine dining restaurants, running outwards from the elegant main street, the Corso Umberto I.
