“A rustic chic boutique hotel nestled between mountains and sea. A stone walled building with traditional rooms. Iron beds, wooden floors, and painted shutters make for lots of charm. Stunning valley views, rustic vegetarian cuisine, leafy terraces. Plenty to do in the surrounds.”

Hotel Review

Hotel Balatura is a delightful find - a renovated farmhouse with just 10 rooms, run by a German-Croat family who decamped here for a better quality of life. The restoration (both in terms of architecture and interior design) has been done in keeping with traditional Croatian buildings from the pale lime green shutters and door frames (originally popular as the colour of the ships from which the wood was stolen by locals!) to the way the stones are laid together to make the walls. Inside, each of the 10 rooms is individually themed and decorated; the Olive room walls live up to the promise of the name. Stone walls, a stone basin, fab power shower and a luxuriously deep bath in a terracotta stone ensuite - simple and very rustic but with all the mod cons. If you remove one of the paintings from the wall you’ll find a sneakily hidden TV - not that you’ll need it! Next, step out onto a beautiful private terrace overlooking the quaint courtyard and chillax with your other half in hammocks. No sharing necessary - there’s one each! Food wise, the hotel is strictly vegetarian to reflect the life the family lead at home. But for next to nothing you'll be treated to a fabulous and inventive menu which changes daily. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. You'll be treated like part of the extended family in this gem of a hideaway.
